Engineering Vacancy – Exeter

Having been featured on Grand Designs and shortlisted in the Civic Trust Awards 2022 for the ‘Bale House’ we pride ourselves and our reputation. structureHaus have projects in the residential, commercial, leisure, sustainable and educational sectors across the country.
Due to expanding workload through continued client satisfaction and expanding client bases we require a committed Structural Engineer with at least 3 years’ experience, to work in our busy growing office in Exeter, on projects across the UK. Applicants for the post will be self-motivated and enthusiastic. This is a great opportunity for a Structural Engineer to take the next step in their career and make a positive contribution to the current team.
The role will include:
- Managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
- Preparation of calculations, sketches etc. in all common building materials.
- Use of computer programs for structural design including TEDDS and TEKLA
- Preparation of design details for Technicians.
- Liaison with clients, other designers, contractors and statutory bodies as necessary.
- Undertaking structural surveys, investigations and reports.
- Site visits for projects, attending design meetings etc.
- Compliance with Health & Safety and CDM Regulations and preparation of associated designers’ documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Recognised Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, to work towards IEng or CEng ideally.
- Knowledge of Eurocodes, Codes of Practice, Design Standards, Building Regulations and Health & Safety Legislation.
- A good working knowledge of Autocad and other drawing packages and computer design software for structural analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Due to expanding workload through continued client satisfaction and expanding client bases we require a committed Chartered Structural Engineer with at least five years’ experience to strengthen our hard-working team and work alongside our London Director. You must be competent at working alone and as part of a team and have excellent communication skills to liaise directly with clients and our strong design team ensuring quality and delivery.
The role will include:
- Managing projects and client relationships.
- Resource and financial management of projects.
- Implementing and promoting good practice and procedures.
- Preparation of schemed proposal sketches and principals.
- Preparation of calculations in all common building materials.
- Use of design software including TEDDS.
- Preparation of design details for Technicians.
- Liaison with clients, other designers, contractors and statutory bodies as necessary.
- Undertaking structural surveys, investigations, and reports.
- Site visits for projects, attending design meetings etc.
- Compliance with Health & Safety and CDM Regulations and preparation of associated designers’ documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- IEng or CEng Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers
- Knowledge of Eurocodes, Codes of Practice, Design Standards, Building Regulations and Health & Safety Legislation.
- A good working knowledge of Autocad and other drawing packages and computer design software for structural analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Additional Useful Skills/Knowledge.
- Contract Administration.
- Construction Laws.
- Experience in London structures.
- Experience in basement design.
- Experience in Historical Buildings.
- Existing client relationships.
- Experience of BIM implementation.
- Experience with Tekla.
